The Planai challenges you! Winter in Schladming attracts winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world. Whether skiing, snowboarding, ski touring, winter hiking, cross-country skiing, tobogganing or horse-drawn carriage rides - there is a winter experience for everyone!
Our local mountain, the Planai, is part of the 4-mountain ski area and is connected to Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm. For skiers and snowboarders of all levels there is a wide range of slopes and fun parks. 230 kilometres of pistes and ultra-modern lifts and cable cars make the Schladming ski region a special experience on the slopes. Families with children love Hopsiland on the Planai and the Wollis Kids Park on Hauser Kaibling. The ski areas of Fageralm, Ramsau am Dachstein and Ski Galsterberg are also popular with the youngest skiers.
The cross-country mecca is definitely Ramsau am Dachstein, which is only 10 minutes away by car. The always sunny high plateau offers 220 kilometres of cross-country trails. Regardless of whether you run classically or skate, there are suitable trails for both styles. If you are just a beginner and want to learn cross-country skiing, there are also special cross-country skiing schools that will introduce you to the sport with great enthusiasm. The night trail is highly recommended, especially during the full moon. You will find many cosy refreshment stops along the trails. The Untertal also has a cross-country skiing highlight, the Kristallloipe. The trail leads along the crystal clear waters of the Talbach from the Hinkerbrücke bridge in Rohrmoos to the Riesachfall-Seeleiten summer car park.
It is no wonder that mountain walking is becoming more and more popular in winter. Away from the hustle and bustle and the slopes, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of nature in the white season. Separate paths through the forest make ski touring a special experience. You are then rewarded at the end with a downhill run that you have truly earned. There are also beautiful walking paths leading from our house, which we are happy to reveal to our guests!
Tobogganing is probably popular with everyone! The fun on the toboggan is an experience for the whole family. In about 15 minutes by car you can reach the toboggan run on the Hochwurzen, which is also open at night. The cosy huts invite you to fortify yourself and rest. You can rent a toboggan directly at the Hochwurzen valley station at the Ski Lenz sports shop or at the Tauernalm. Opening times vary according to the season, so be sure to check here beforehand. The toboggan run on the Rittisberg in Ramsau also promises lots of fun. Here you can expect two refreshment stops at the valley station and a cosy hut on the mountain.
